Step 5 - Simulation Model

This is the final part of the tutorial where the model logic will be finalized and results processes will be created to easily track certain statistics. With the model finished it’s ready to run, watch the model as the images of rack processes change, Picker routes to the highlighted rack locations, and watching stats change with each pick.

Download the image file that points to the pick location during picking. make sure to save at the correct location where the model can have access to it during the run.

Step 4 - Optimize the picking based on distance and display pick path

For the fourth part of this tutorial the layout will be finalized and the logic for the Rack module will be put into place. Whenever a Pick object reaches the correct rack location that location will interact with different tables to update them accordingly, this is necessary to track all information regarding each pick and each rack location. When the pick has been completed it is taken to the Staging process where the model will reset and send the pick out. At the end of this part the data for the tables will be imported for use by the objects and processes within the model, this step is very important and must be done as shown in the video to ensure accuracy while the model is running.

Step 1 - Setting up the model with initial parameters

This tutorial will demonstrate how to build a warehouse model in Simcad Pro for the use of picking items from slotted shelves. This specific model will light up the pick location so it makes it much easier to see what each pick being made will consist of.

Step 2 - Building the Racks

The second part of this tutorial is the warehouse model building. Here is where the rows of racks and aisles will be created using the Auto Create feature in Simcad Pro®. By using this feature it will create an entire row of processes at once and allow the user to connect them together all at once. This allows the user to save time when creating a vast number of processes that are all very similar in naming convention and will use the same logic in each process.

Step 3 - Adding picking logic and modules

In this third part of the tutorial we will create additional modules to control multiple connection lines/processes with ease. With the modules now in place, logic can be applied to them to tell the model how to perform. As well, logic is applied to the model from the beginning moving towards the end of the model; this is done so that if tests need to be conducted then the part that is being tested is doing so first. When the Pick first gets into the model it will need to grab information from the PickSequence table in order to route to the correct rack location to pick that item.
